Day #57 – Lassen Volcano National Park

We arrived on Wednesday to rain and 50’s – we’ve come a long way since the desert!
Next day, headed out to explore  the park, completed a waterfall hike and visited the Sulphur Works, one of the many hypothermic areas. Then a 1 and 1/2 hour drive to a fabulous hike in the middle of nowhere, where we got to enjoy Boiling Springs Lake. In one day we have experienced snow, hail, rain and sun – what an amazing place!

Addendum: the next day we drove to The Redwoods National Park in Northern California. Lassen was beautiful with so much to explore, but cold and wet, so we were glad to drive away and steam in the car. The drive over the mountains involved dense fog, gorgeous sunshine, cold drizzle and back to sunshine. The desert is behind us, but the Pacific is here!
