We arrived at Redwoods National and State Park and camped at Elk Prairie Campground. This campground has a large meadow where Elk come to graze. There they are, grazing away while hundreds of people are nearby watching. It’s amazing!
The Redwoods definitely offers a different vibe than Lassen Volcanic NP. Coming from a place where volcanic explosions and forest fires devastated the landscape to a place on the Pacific Ocean teaming with wildlife, huge trees and awesome sunsets is life changing experience.
On our journey through the park, we stopped by a 1500 year old , 286 ft all Redwood named “Big Tree”! Redwoods are tall and Sequoias are fat!
We hiked the Lady Bird Johnson Grove Trail.
We discovered a WWII early warning radar station designed to look like a working farm to deter enemy attacks.
Moving on, we encountered seals swimming up Klamath River searching for a fine fish dinner.
The Klamath River Overlook offered a wonderful view.
Walking on sandy beaches amidst the scenery and surf was a relaxing way to end our visit.
