We left the beautiful White Sands National Park area in extreme heat, with high winds and dust storms. It was interesting to see the landscape change from flat, arid desert with craggy mountains in the background, to a lusher, cooler desert with mesas in the background. On the way we stopped at the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center in Albuquerque. So much fascinating information and Indian dancing and a craft market also. After refreshing ourselves at what must be the biggest and most attractive Starbucks in the country, we headed on to our goal of the Petrified Forest in Arizona. The wind kept up and we had miles and miles of tumbleweeds blowing across the road. We arrived at our Harvest Host in the nick of time to get unhitched before dark.
